Who We Are White Noise Productions is an independent production company based in Seattle. We specialize in feature-length documentaries but are also known for our advocacy and fundraising films, DVDs, videos and website clips for progressive organizations. Ann Hedreen and Rustin Thompson are a husband and wife filmmaking team who together own White Noise Productions. Their most recent feature-length documentary, Quick Brown Fox: An Alzheimer’s Story, is distributed by Women Make Movies and has aired in Finland, Israel, and in the United States on regional PBS stations. It was awarded Women in Film Seattle’s Nell Shipman award for best documentary and nominated for two Northwest Emmy awards.Thompson’s award-winning documentary, 30 Frames A Second: The WTO in Seattle, was also nominated for two Northwest Emmys and it was named one of the Top Ten Films of 2002 by the American Library Association. It won the Best Documentary award at the Chicago Underground Film Festival, the Seattle Underground Film Festival, and the Portland Festival of World Cinema. It is available for sale now on DVD. Hedreen and Thompson began their careers in national and local TV broadcasting. They have won many Emmys, Tellys and other awards for their work and have been independent filmmakers for the last 7 years. Other recent projects include Art Without Walls: the Making of the Olympic Sculpture Park, which aired on KCTS in January and is now available on DVD; Wild America, made for the Sierra Club and narrated by Sissy Spacek; I Am SAM, a public affairs film for the Seattle Art Museum, narrated by Tom Skerritt; and False Promises: The Lost Land of the Wenatchi, distributed by Filmakers Library and featuring acclaimed character actor Gary Farmer. Hedreen and Thompson are both Northwest natives. They live in Seattle with their two teenaged children. Ann is a graduate of Wellesley College. She began her career at the City News Bureau of Chicago and United Press International. She is a member of Women in Film Seattle. Rustin writes occasionally for MovieMaker magazine, and is an on-air programmer for KBCS radio. He graduated from the University of Washington.
